Luke Graham sent a message to a Rangers asset just hours before his transfer south of the border was officially unveiled.

Graham has been one of the most intensely tracked defensive prospects in Scottish football. The 22-year-old defender was heavily linked with a high-profile move to Rangers all summer long, with the recruitment staff eager to bring the Dundee standout to Govan.

However, despite the heavy summer links to Ibrox, the centre-back ultimately chose to swap the Scottish Premiership for the EFL Championship, putting to paper on a four-year deal with Stoke City in a £2million move.

The Light Blues had laid the groundwork to take Graham to Glasgow, with Dan Purdy running the rule over the youngster personally, only to be rejected by the player, who had concerns over his playing time.

Yet, just a day before holding up the red-and-white jersey in Staffordshire, his digital footprint left fans talking.

Luke Graham sends message to Findlay Curtis

Before his cross-border transfer was formally finalised by the Potters, Graham took to social media to react publicly to Findlay Curtis.

The Ibrox attacker had shared an emotional post reflecting on his journey representing Scotland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he etched his name into the history books during the national team’s memorable tournament run.

Underneath the upload, Graham left a public show of support, commenting “Love it, Fin” alongside a heart and clapping hands emojis.

The public exchange gave a glimpse into the tight-knit bonds within the young Scottish international ranks.

Both players have been a core part of the youth national setup, with Graham earning a place in Steve Clarke’s broader senior training camps alongside Curtis before the World Cup kicked off.

Graham’s Rangers snub explained

While the social media interaction showed a clear warmth toward his international colleague, it highlighted an elegant transfer twist for Rangers fans who had spent the summer hoping to see Graham pull on the light blue shirt.

Rangers were actively scouting the dominant 6ft 3in centre-back as a high-potential addition to steady their defensive ranks.

Dundee had firmly held out for their premium evaluation, rejecting a £1.5m package from Portsmouth earlier this year, before securing their record-breaking £2m fee from Stoke.

Derek McInnes‘ side were in the mix until the final lap, but the defender doubted if he would be a guaranteed starter in Glasgow.

Rangers, thus, missed out on the defensive prodigy after a summer of heavy interest, but the mutual respect between the new Stoke boy and Curtis shows the admiration remains completely intact.
