Alex Lowry was the match winner for Hearts at a rain soaked Rugby Park on Tuesday night as the Rangers loanee set about trying to get a starting place back.

A composed touch followed by a slide rule finish just seconds after coming off the bench broke his goalscoring duck for the Jambos and he will now look to add more numbers to his game.

Posting on Instagram, Alex Lowry couldn’t hide his delight at his moment of magic with Rangers team-mates among those to congratulate the playmaker.

Alex Lowry makes Hearts impact as Rangers kid reflects

Clearly buzzing to break his duck, the creative midfielder was congratulated by

“Delighted to get my first goal for this team, see you all at Hampden.”

Given the draw, unfortunately he won’t be able to play at the national stadium.

Replying below, some of his Rangers teammates’ comments included:

Nico Raskin – “The man himself.”

Adam Devine – “My brother.”

Coke McKinnon – “Love it you.”

Rabbi Matondo – “Well done bro.”

It was a classy finish from Alex Lowry, the sort of composure that Rangers have been missing recently.

The Scotland youth international has always had this sort of goal in his locker and all of his senior goals have been pleasing on the eye – he doesn’t do tap ins.

Playing for the B team always saw Lowry as the main man and he always comes across as the sort of player who needs that sort of role.

Steven Naismith was pleased with Alex Lowry’s contribution but urged the Rangers academy graduate to replicate his impact on a more regular basis.

To do this though, the Hearts manager has to meet him half way and give him the opportunity to impress, Michael Beale is but he hasn’t got much say.

A few minutes here and there isn’t fair when demanding consistency.

Hopefully, he has done enough to prove that he can be trusted.
