Liverpool will not loan Ryan Kent to Rangers this season and will demand a permanent transfer fee for the player, at least according the Argus.
The English paper is utterly convinced that Liverpool are “sticking to their guns” and they will categorically not allow Kent to move to Ibrox on loan.
The news comes as the conversation around Kent exploded today following a report in the Daily Record that had Gers fans both excited and dumbfounded.
Supporters questioned the “exclusive” aspect of the report as the Record claimed that Kent is prepared to down tools to force through the move.
The Argus report has challenged that suggestion and reiterated that Liverpool will not budge on their position on the player.
Local Merseyside paper the Liverpool Echo has also shot down the Scottish reports, with their report claiming “a loan is not on the agenda, and no other form of deal has been suggested”.
All of this suggests that whilst there’s been a level of pandemonium on social media surrounding Kent today, there will not be a loan deal.
Steven Gerrard previously appeared to suggest the deal was dead [Rangers] after comments made by Jurgen Klopp about Liverpool refusing to send the player on loan.
The suggestion today was that Rangers would pay a considerable loan fee for this season with the remainder of the reported £7m asking price being paid up next season in an obligation-to-buy clause.
But these reports suggest no such arrangement is in place and if Rangers want to sign the player, they’ll need to shell out this season.
