Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been addressing Jurgen Klopp’s comments about Ryan Kent’s future as he looked forward to the Rangers’ Europa League qualifier with Progres.
The Gers boss confirmed that he’d spoken to Klopp on the phone only a few days ago but appeared to suggest Rangers have moved on from the entire saga.
Initially frosty, Gerrard responded, “I don’t think that has anything to do with tomorrow’s game, has it?”.

But after opening up on the situation, the Gers manager sounded relaxed.
“Jurgen’s came out and gave the answer that would’ve come out of my mouth anyway so it’s been addressed and we move on,” said Gerrard.

“Where we are right now, yes, that is the end of it.
“We respect Liverpool’s stance and we thank them very much for allowing us to work with Ryan for the year.
“We’ve obviously got a Liverpool player in Sheyi who’s started very well.
“I had a good conversation with Jurgen on the phone a few days ago and we totally respect Liverpool’s decision on it”.

It meant that Rangers wouldn’t have been able to sign Kent with
Liverpool’s asking price reportedly reaching up to £12m.
It is a disappointing blow to Rangers with Kent being one of the club’s top transfer targets this season.
But Steven Gerrard remains optimistic about the players in the squad whilst also discussing the “possibility” that Rangers could move for someone else instead.
