With Rangers interest in Ryan Kent reportedly dead, the latest reports have suggested it’s because Liverpool are “pricing-out” the Ibrox club. And everyone else.
The Anfield club has said they’ve no intention of loaning Kent out this year [BBC Sport], with a permanent move for the player preferable.
But Sky Sports News have now claimed that the tricky 22-year-old winger is being priced out of a move from Merseyside.
The report also claims that Kent is valued at around £7m by Liverpool – a considerable drop from the £12m being quoted earlier in the transfer window.
Realistically, Rangers cannot afford to put out such an outlay on one player and a permanent move at that price appears off the table, even if it is more affordable.
Steven Gerrard appears to have made his peace with that [Rangers], with the Rangers boss saying any potential deal is off as it stands.

But with fellow reported suitors Leeds United [Wales Online] already well-stocked in the wide positions, it remains unlikely someone will pounce for the player.
So that leaves Ryan Kent stuck at Anfield with what appears little chance of making it into the Liverpool first-team squad.
As a result, the player could spend the season languishing in the side’s reserves, going backwards in his development and depreciating in value.
Whilst you can understand Liverpool’s determination to recoup a fee for the player, by keeping him at the club and not playing him, every party fails to benefit.
That doesn’t seem like very good business sense at all.
