Liverpool boss responds to “break” rumours as Rangers fan fears grow

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has responded to rumours that he is considering taking a “break” amid an awful run of form with Rangers fans nervously watching the situation unfold.

The reigning Premier League champions have won only twice in twelve matches with Klopp looking increasingly frustrated by the press conference.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is often seen as the eventual successor to the throne at Anfield with Ibrox supporters well aware of the temptations on Merseyside should the German depart.

After the death of his mother last week, social media rumours claimed that Klopp was ready to take a break from the game.

But the ex-Dortmund and Mainz boss has railed back at that suggestion and has reiterated his commitment to the cause at Liverpool as fans hang out a banner of support.

“Did I get the sack or did I leave by myself? I do not need a break,” said Klopp [BBC Sport].

“The banner is nice but not necessary. I don’t feel I need special support at the moment.

“The last thing I want to do is talk about private things in a news conference but, privately, we had a tough time. We always deal with it as a family, 100%.

“Nobody has to worry about me. I might not look like this because the weather is not cool, the beard gets more and more grey and I don’t sleep a lot but I’m full of energy. The situation is a challenge.

“I don’t want to have the situation but I see it as an interesting challenge. We will sort it.

“It could be tricky but we are sorting it by playing football, by sticking even more together, fighting with all you have and learning more than you can in each season you have played before. That is the plan we have.

“It’s a massive challenge, I’m ready and boys are ready and we give our absolutely everything to sort it.

“Thanks for all the support. I’m very grateful but they can think about other things because nobody has to worry about me.”

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been transformational for the Ibrox club as they edge towards a legendary 55^th title and their first in a decade under Gerrard’s stewardship.

However, the ex-Liverpool captain’s future has certainly came into focus in the last few weeks such has been the poor run of form his old club find themselves on.
