Liam Kelly has slaughtered his Rangers teammates for what he brands a ‘shocking’ defensive display in the Scottish Premiership draw with Hibs.

The Ibrox goalkeeper, 28, played his third match for the club in the 3-3 draw at Easter Road and conceded his first goals as a Rangers player.

Admitting he was ‘angry’ and ‘frustrated’ at full-time, Liam Kelly has let rip at the entire Rangers team and insists they need to have a long hard look in the mirror.

It comes with Rangers dropping yet more Scottish Premiership away points in the draw with Hibs, the club having picked up only 12 points from a possible 30 on the road this season.

‘Angry’ Liam Kelly says Rangers ‘not good enough’ v Hibs

“Obviously really angry,” Liam Kelly told RangersTV at full time.

“We’ve not managed to win the game. If we score three goals in any game we should never, ever not win the game.

”Really angry, really disappointed, really frustrated that we’ve conceded three goals and we need to be defensively so much better.

”We give them the first goal when they’ve got no life in the game at all. We’re completely on top, dominating strong in the game.

”The first goal we give away is just terrible so we give them momentum, we give them hope, we’ve only got ourselves to blame.

”It wasn’t good enough. We should never score three goals and not win the game.

”I’m so annoyed because we gave them hope, we didn’t even need to.

”The goals we give away are absolutely shocking and we need to be a lot stronger defensively.

”There’s loads of good stuff in there but nobody cares when you don’t go over the line, when you don’t win, so I’m so annoyed.

”It’s had to take any pleasure of being involved in the game.

”I want to play football and it’s great to play but when I play I want to win so I am really annoyed that we never won, that’s my overriding emotion.“

Rangers goalkeeper urges ‘collective’ responsibility

Liam Kelly has urged his Rangers teammates to take ‘collective’ responsibility for the club’s continuing defensive mistakes.

Rangers have lost several experienced defensive options to injury in recent weeks but the Ibrox goalkeeper was not looking for excuses come full time at Easter Road.

Lambasting the club’s failure to keep out ‘cheap goals’, the Rangers stopper insists every single person has a duty to improve at Ibrox.

”It’s a collective obviously,” said Kelly. “I think a lot of defensive midfield boys were involved in the attacking goals as well.

”So being involved in the defensive stuff, we’ve shown on Thursday we can defend really well so no excuses there.

”There’s a lot of good experienced players out there, including myself, and we all need to look at ourselves and do a lot better.

”We just need to not give away the cheap goals that we’re giving away.

”We need to be a lot stronger. I am obviously including myself in everything I say.

”Need to do a lot better as a collective, that’s every single person, it’s not one individual.

”Obviously our attacking boys have managed to produce three goals for us today and Hamza’s scored an unbelievable hat-trick.

”So we’ve got a responsibility, everybody, forward and defensive boys, to make sure you don’t concede that amount of goals in any game for Rangers.”
