Rangers-linked striker Josh Maja will not be renewing his contract at Bordeaux after failing to respond to the Ligue 2 club’s offer of a new deal.
According to reputable French outlet L’Equipe, Josh Maja will not renew at Bordeaux and will now leave the club at the end of his contract, with Rangers free to go ahead and sign the striker.

This comes with Bordeaux yet to hear any response from Maja, with a source close to L’Equipe saying “sometimes not answering is an answer”.
The report then goes on to mention that several clubs from the English Championship are interested in Josh Maja, with Spanish clubs Alavés and Real Valladolid and French sides Nice and Brest also noted.
The absence of any mention of Rangers in the L’Equipe report will be of real interest to Ibrox fans given how closely they’ve watched Josh Maja’s contract situation this summer.
Josh Maja ignores Bordeaux contract extension offer
This comes with the French side boasting the option of an extra year for Josh Maja and his contract had they earned promotion to Ligue 1 last season.
Rangers are also said to be closing in on a deal for Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers, whilst the club has also had a bid turned down for Feyenoord forward Danilo.
The club has also added Atalanta forward Sam Lammers whilst Abdallah Sima has joined on loan from Brighton, with Kemar Roofe, Antonio Colak and Fashion Sakala all still at the club.

It points to Rangers having turned their attentions elsewhere in this summer’s attacker pursuit but earlier reports have claimed the Gers’ interest in out-of-contract Josh Maja is legitimate.
The contract news comes as a major blow to Bordeaux, who’ve also just been condemned to another season in the French second flight after a supporter got their final game of the season abandoned by assaulting a rival player.
Resulting in a defeat being awarded against Bordeaux, the ruling ended the club’s promotion hopes, something on which any new contract for Maja may well have rested.
