Legendary France striker Olivier Giroud has gutted former Rangers striker Jason Cummings after comments the Australia man made regarding the forward’s kit.

Cummings, now of Central Coast Mariners in the A-League, went viral after comments following Australia’s 4-1 Group D thumping at the hands of World Cup Finalists France.

Giroud scored a double in the match in a tournament where he cemented his legendary status with the France national team, the striker now the country’s all-time top scorer with 53 goals in 120 caps.

Cummings, 27, claimed that 36-year-old Olivier Giroud blanked him inside the stadium after the former Rangers, Hibs and Dundee man asked the Frenchman for his kit.

Talking on Australian TV show The Project, Cummings claimed that the ex-Arsenal forward even pretended not to speak English despite his stint in the Premier League.

“So when I was walking back to my changing room and I’ve seen Giroud and I’m walking, as handsome as ever, and I asked him, ‘Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt man? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?’,” said Cummings.

“And he just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English! And he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years! He just walked right past me!”

However, Olivier Giroud has delivered an expert response on social media by tagging Aussie star Jackson Irvine in a post showing the Socceroos player’s shirt.

Asking “how’s my English?”, the beaten World Cup Finalist even got a response from Jackson Irvine who landed a dig on his teammate Jason Cummings by claiming the two even swapped haircare routines in “perfect English”.

Despite previously having been involved in the Scotland international set-up, eccentric striker Cumdog made headlines across his native country after switching allegiances to the Socceroos.

The fact the ex-Rangers forward – who had a six month loan stint at Ibrox in 2018 – has played at a World Cup remains a topic of much conversation on social media.

But Olivier Giroud has left Cummings with egg on his face here and we don’t think the former Rangers star will live it down any time soon.

Meanwhile, one manager has spoken out amid reports regarding the future of a Rangers-linked striker.
