Leading Rangers blogger Four Lads Had a Dream is to step back from the “wonderful experience” of fan media at Ibrox to get back to basics.

Alongside prolific Rangers podcaster Heat & Hand, the popular Twitter account and blogger were to be given increased press access at Ibrox this season.

But having sampled the situation and considered it in their own interests, the blogger has opted to step back in order to “write simply as a fan”.

The blogger clearly feels that he preferred things as they were and has taken this decision very quickly after they were given press access.

It’s a bold move and one which should be commended as Four Lads look to provide the most honest and rational coverage they can of the football club.

There is undoubtedly an added pressure involved with working closely with the club which Four Lads have explained does not suit the direction they wish to take.

“I am a supporter first and foremost and want to write simply as a fan,” explains Four Lads.

“Simply put, I just preferred the way things were without any conditions I feel I need my own space to do that.

“The most important thing is we get behind the management & the players this season.”

The blogger also took the opportunity to thank Club 1872 for their work in securing the fan media relationship and their continuing support.

Club 1872 have continually pushed for added fan media access at Rangers due to the oftentimes unfair and obtuse coverage of the club from traditional media outlets and commentators.
