Reports surrounding Rangers apparent pursuit of Martin Skrtel appear to have intensified with Turkish media outlet Fotomac claiming the player has told friends he’s moving to Rangers.
The big Slovakian stopper might be 34 years old but he has been consistently linked to Rangers since former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard took the job.
These reports have since been picked up by several news outlets, with the Scotsman and Football Scotland running the story.

The reports were initially dubious, and certainly remain so, but it’s the second time in as many days Fotomac have linked the player to Ibrox.
Fotomac editor Zeki Uzundurukan had previously claimed that Rangers had met with former Fenerbahçe defender Skrtel (his contract with the Turks has just expired).
The big stopper himself confirmed back in July that his representatives had met with the Ibrox club [Daily Record].
But following Rangers’ acquisitions of both George Edmundson and Filip Helander, the side looks to be well-stocked at centre back. Or at least they did.
The duo joins nailed on starter Connor Goldson and Croatian fan favourite Nikola Katic as centre back options at the club.
Any move for Skrtel remains the subject of intense scepticism from the Rangers support and will do so until there’s any official suggestion of interest from the club.

There’s also the very real chance that Skrtel’s agent is using Rangers’ stature to alert clubs to the Slovakian’s availability.
But should Skrtel join Rangers permanently – which would almost certainly be on a short-term deal – Rangers would need to offload another player.
Could Nikola Katic perhaps be the player cut, with a potential loan move away from the club?
