As Rangers scouts descended on Greece to watch Luis Palma, it was another player in Hwang In-beom who impressed.

Reports earlier in the week had claimed that the Gers were set to watch Aris winger Luis Palma in a clash with Olympiakos.

The Hondouran attacker was hooked in the clash in an eventual 2-2 draw and it didn’t give Rangers fans much of an insight into the player.

But at the same another player who has been linked to Rangers in Hwang In-beom impressed for the opposition team Olympiakos.

Rangers scouts watch Hwang In-beom score

Rangers were linked with Hwang In-beom earlier in the campaign alongside Dimitrios Kourbelis and Fotis Ioannidis.

The midfielder netted the opening goal in the clash between Olympiakos and Aris, his fourth goal of a productive season.

Rangers fans might also recognise the 26-year-old from the World Cup, where he turned out for the South Korea national team, for whom he’s earned 43 caps.

If those earlier Rangers links to Hwang In-beom were legitimate, then the Olympiakos midfielder must’ve surely impressed those scouts on Luis Palma watch.

The links and reports come as Rangers look towards the summer window and signing up to five players under new manager Michael Beale.

The Ibrox boss has been clear about the club’s investment plans this summer as Rangers finally look to find some consistency in the Premiership.

Rangers have let Celtic pull away from them over the last four windows and the next one is vital in chipping away at the nine point gap in the Scottish top flight.

Speaking about those links to Greek football, the latest reports have also suggested Dimitrios Kourbelis is set to remain at Panathinaikos.

As for Luis Palma, the Aris winger has been speaking about his footballing heroes, with Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo the winger’s idols.
