Rangers will be without key player Ianis Hagi for the trip to Dundee United this weekend – and it’ll leave plenty nervous over the player’s status for the Champions League clash with Malmo.

Whilst it’s always a blow losing one of your best players, the absence of Ianis Hagi from the weekend’s trip to Dundee United will be felt considerably less than the Malmo game.

The main reason for this concerns the availability of Kemar Roofe, who bolsters the Gers attacking options for this match.

Against Malmo, Roofe is suspended and the Gers are threadbare so the presence of Hagi would be a welcome boost to the side.

However, for the clash with the Arabs, Steven Gerrard has confirmed that the Romanian will not be available.

“We will be without Ianis Hagi. Roofe is available to return to the group, Kamara will return to the squad,” said Gerrard.

“Morelos is available but he will need a couple of sessions on his return. Ryan Jack will be another couple of weeks all being well.”

Rangers star Hagi got the club’s Scottish Premiership season off to a flyer last week, scoring the club’s opener in a 3-0 win over Livingston.

However, the midfielder would be subbed off before half-time after a horrendous challenge from Lions defender Adam Lewis left the attacking midfielder hobbling.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard then confirmed before the 2-2 defeat to Malmo that the player had picked up a knock in the warm-up.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans have been encouraging the club to move for a Scottish Premiership rival after a stand-out performance on the European stage.
