Kenny Miller has written in The Daily Record that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos should not leave the club at the end of the season.
Miller played with Morelos at Rangers, and the former Gers striker believes that the Colombia international should sign a new contract with the Scottish Premiership side.
Morelos is out of contract at Rangers at the end of the season.
Rangers manager Michael Beale has publicly said that he wants the 26-year-old to sign a new contract and continue his footballing journey with the Scottish Premiership club.
Alfredo Morelos urged to stay at Rangers
Miller wrote: “I don’t know what Michael Beale or the board are thinking when it comes to Alfredo’s future. But if the player himself is thinking about leaving the club, I’d urge him to be careful. Because the grass isn’t always greener.
“Alfredo is absolutely adored by the fans at the club. And a fully fit Morelos is still Rangers’ best number nine. We just haven’t seen that enough lately.
“He wasn’t firing at the start of this season – due to injury and Antonio Colak’s form. But I have no doubt that he’s a better option to start up front for Rangers.
“So, irrespective of what the club or Michael is thinking about the contract, Alfredo has to think about where he might end up.”
What should Morelos do?
In our view, Alfredo Morelos should seriously consider staying at Rangers beyond the end of the season.
Now, of course, we understand that if a club from the Premier League came calling, then it would be hard for the striker to turn it down.
The Premier League is the richest and most watched domestic league in the world.
And, to many, it is the highest level in domestic club football.
So, we would understand if Morelos left Rangers for a top-flight club in England.
However, the £330,000-a-week (SalarySport) striker would be better off at Rangers if he gets offers from the Championship teams in England.
Any move to a club in the second tier of English football would be a step down from Rangers.
