Kemar Roofe has given his thoughts on Rangers’ controversial lilac third kit on Instagram after he wore it for the first time against Ross County on Sunday.

Roofe was named on the bench for the Premiership fixture in Dingwall but came on for the last seven minutes plus injury time, replacing Joe Aribo.

Of course, it wasn’t the first time the Gers had worn the kit.

That’s as they were forced into unveiling and wearing it ahead of schedule earlier this month due to Malmö’s limited kit options before the second leg of the Champions League qualifier between the two clubs at Ibrox, a match Roofe missed through suspension.

When it was first released, the kit, which was influenced by a famous strip from the mid-1990s, prompted a very mixed reaction from supporters.

Then, when the qualifier against Malmö didn’t go to plan, there were immediate suggestions that it was cursed.

While some supporters are yet to be convinced, it does seem to be growing on many others, with Sunday’s 4-2 win over the Staggies no doubt aiding that process.

Roofe is certainly a big fan anyway, dropping a very positive verdict on his Instagram story on Monday.

“This 3rd kit is serious”, was how he captioned an action shot from the match, adding two fire emojis for emphasis.

The popular forward also made a post after the game, captioning a pair of action shots ‘tunnel vision’. By the time of writing, it had racked up close to 14k likes.

Roofe is ineligible for Thursday afternoon’s Europa League playoff second leg against Alashkert but missing out on the trip to Yerevan could boost his chances of selection for the Old Firm.

Ahead of those big matches, a Rangers star is on the verge of a remarkable achievement.
