Former Rangers attacker Josh Windass has been in the press this week speaking about his move away from the club.
The attacking midfielder joined Wigan for £2m in the Summer and Windass has said he “doesn’t think the bid should’ve been accepted” by the Rangers board.
It was the final nail for a player who showed much promise but struggled to consistently deliver. His attitude and application where at times seriously lacking and weren’t that of a Rangers player. Off the field, Windass was continuously criticised but on the field his form was indifferent at times.
It’s clearly something Windass now regrets.

A mixed Rangers career full of might have beens
Windass did superbly last season. There’s no doubt about it. The midfielder contributed 18 goals in all competitions and was a key part of the squad. But there’s also no doubt the squad is now considerably stronger, and he would’ve had to apply himself harder to be a part of it. It seems, this mentality evaded Josh.
He had talent and I do believe he’ll get better as a player. He could score, shoot and set goals up. Windass was also versatile and could play across the forward line. However, his cockiness and attitude off the park rarely measured up to the standards expected.
It’s only now Windass has left he realises just how big a club Rangers are. He will never be at a club like ours again.
Was it the right decision to sell him?
With the £2m Rangers made from Josh Windass they signed Eros Grezda. Grezda is an Albanian international who is highly rated in his home country.

Windass is still causing PR storms off the field by running his mouth. It says enough about Windass’ regret that he speaks publicly about it.
That said, there’s no doubt the young Englishman will forever be a bluenose now.
Was it the right decision to let him go? Time will tell.
