The 24-year-old is out of contract at LAFC come the end of the season and the Gers are said to be leading the hunt to sign the midfielder despite interest from the likes of Leeds Utd and Brighton.

It highlights just how big a deal the Jose Cifuentes move could be as Rangers look to add genuine quality to their ranks ahead of next season.

Agent offers Jose Cifuentes Rangers clue

A look at the social media accounts of Jose Cifuentes’ agent Stefan Jarrin – who is a managing partner with Sports Altitude Management – there has been strong action around Rangers in recent days.

Firstly, Jarrin posted an upload of a trip to Ibrox on to his official LinkedIn account, adding the caption “a great few days in Glasgow with Rangers Football Club. Thanks for the hospitality!”.

The post included pictures of the weekend’s 3-0 Old Firm win over Celtic, the Rangers crest and of the Rangers Training Centre.

Then the agent has also been busy interacting with tweets from the official Rangers Twitter account over the weekend, where Stefan Jarrin liked the official Rangers tweet celebrating the 3-0 win over Celtic.

How do we know that Stefan Jarrin is Jose Cifuentes’ agent? Well the Ecuadorean international midfielder is listed as a client on the Sports Altitude Management website.

The LA-based sports management agency focus on sourcing the finest Latin American talent something which Jose Cifuentes, who plays for LAFC, clearly represents.

Whilst, as the old adage goes, the signing isn’t done until the scarf is hoisted above his head, today’s news all points to Jose Cifuentes closing in on a move to Rangers.

The move certainly appears to be something of a coup for Rangers heading into next season and given the exotic nature of the potential transfer you’ll forgive fans for getting excited.
