Jordan Rossiter hasn’t quite been the revelation Rangers fans thought he’d be when he signed.
The former Liverpool youth had once been compared to the now Rangers Gaffer Steven Gerrard. He was only 18. At £250k, Rangers were getting a snip.
Signed by Mark Warburton in 2016, Rossiter is now in his third season at the club. It looked like he’d never return from a niggling knee injury which threatened to wreck his career and development.
It hasn’t quite went all of the likeable youngster’s way since he’s been at Ibrox. But after injury nightmare after injury nightmare, he returned to the starting line-up today against Hamilton. The international break served a chance to get him fit.

Let’s hope he proves all of the plaudits he received before his injury hell correct. God knows he deserves it. It’s hard to think of anyone who’s had such niggling problems with injuries in the modern era at Ibrox. He’s been mightily unlucky.
Solid performance by Rossiter but minutes on the board
Jordan Rossiter didn’t play badly today. He’s always vocal and his physicality surprises you given his size. He is a battler but a very intelligent player. His game is about reading the opposition and being the first to the ball in midfield. He’s a commanding presences and can also score goals. There’s shades of a young Barry Ferguson in him.
That said he didn’t play superbly either.
As the game wore on he tired and was subbed for Eros Grezda as we pushed for an equaliser.
But it was brilliant so see the 21-year-old get 80 minutes on the pitch. Even if he did get caught out for the first goal, something he took responsibility for afterwards.
Rossiter said he “still has a long way to go” in his battle with fitness. But these are essential minutes in his push to get to the top of his game. Rossiter also spoke about his eagerness to “pay everyone back”.
If Jordan gets his chance, he will come and fight for the club and the badge. There’s little doubt about that. But we just want to see him play.
Rossiter’s been nothing but professional during a hugely stressful few years and it’d be exciting for Rangers if he we got the youngster really going. He’s always happy to speak to the media and is always positive.
If he can handle this at 21, just imagine the player he could be at 23 if he gets game time.
