Hearts legend John Robertson is not the only Jambo leaving Tynecastle disappointed after defeat to Rangers.
Hearts manager Neil Critchley has been left ‘scratching his head’ after Rangers’ 3-1 win over the Edinburgh club in Gorgie.
But as Rangers get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership, John Robertson reckons that the Gers owe the victory to the ‘magnificent’ performance of one player in particular.
John Robertson hails Jack Butland
Jack Butland made nine saves to keep a wasteful Hearts and bay and offer Philippe Clement some respite at Rangers.
The English goalie, 31, has not been without his critics this season but put in an inspired display to keep the Jambos cursing their luck throughout the match.
John Robertson lamented the missed chances of Hearts striker Elton Kabangu but also hailed Butland for his own ‘magnificent’ display.

”Kabangu had six or seven opportunities, Hearts missed three or four sitters,” Robertson told BBC Sport. ”Butland has had four or five good saves – some magnificent.
“Hearts will be scratching their heads thinking, ‘we put a lot into that game’. There’s more positives than negatives, despite the 3-1 scoreline.
”When I’m driving home, I won’t be disappointed in the performance but today is all about missed chances. Jack Butland had a huge part to play.”
Philippe Clement praises Rangers goalkeeper
It’s not just Hearts legend John Robertson who has been singling Jack Butland out for praise either.
The Rangers goalkeeper has earned the plaudits of manager Philippe Clement come full time with the Belgian manager hailing the stopper’s ‘really strong performance’.
“Jack [Butland], we know his qualities,” Clement told BBC Sport. “He was for a reason a player of the year last season. Today, he had a really strong performance.”
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Clement added:
“I don’t think there’s one team in the world where the bar is put to win every game that can do that without having a good goalkeeper.
“So we know we have one, he was the player of the year last season also, so I’m happy to see Jack in the form he had today.”
