Neil Critchley has been left ‘scratching his head’ after Rangers dumped Hearts 3-1 at Tynecastle.
The Jambos were unbeaten in eight matches heading into the Scottish Premiership clash in Edinburgh and put in a spirited display despite the Rangers victory.
It took an inspired performance from Jack Butland to bail Philippe Clement out and Neil Critchley has been left lamenting a series of spurned opportunities in Edinburgh.
Hearts ‘were better team’ against Rangers
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, a stunned Critchley was left bemused by what the Hearts manager views as a Rangers smash and grab in Gorgie.
The Hearts gaffer is also clear that he believes his side were the ‘better team’ as Rangers bounced back from the Scottish Cup defeat to Queen’s Park.
”I’m scratching my head a little bit to be honest with you,” said Critchley.
”I don’t think 3-1 is a fair reflection of the game. I don’t think the outcome tells you the story of the game.
”I think we’ve been the better team. I think we’ve had more of the ball, more passes, more chances and we just didn’t take our chances.
”Unfortunately, we’ve got punished up the other end and with a little bit of luck for their second goal, it’s gone against us.”
‘Rangers simply more clinical than Hearts’
Speaking to BBC Sport, Neil Critchley also expanded on his claims Hearts were the better team against Rangers.
The Jambos boss is clear that the only discernible difference between the sides at Tynecastle was Rangers being more clinical in front of goal.
“I thought we played very well,” said Critchley.

“I thought we were the better team, to be honest.
“We’ve had more of the ball, more passes, more shots, more clear chances yet we’ve lost the game 3-1.
“The story of the game is they’ve been clinical and we haven’t. If we take our chances, big chances, then I think the game would’ve been different.”
