From now until the summer, there will be plenty of shouts for the Rangers manager’s job.
Some from the left-field and some more obvious ones. But none are likely to be as wild as the one you are about to read.
Barry Ferguson has had his Gers credentials questioned since being appointed as interim boss and he gave his reaction to that in one of his first interviews yesterday.
Fergie was quick to answer the call when it came from Patrick Stewart and has taken fellow Rangers men Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor with him.
Andy Halliday reckons Kevin Thomson was a glaring omission after thinking he was a “stick-on” to be involved in the temporary set-up.
And some others think Ibrox chiefs should have plumped for a more experienced manager, with the 47-year-old only having managed Clyde, Kelty Hearts and Alloa aside from a caretaker role at Blackpool.

Robertson suggests Rangers could have approached Craig Levein
That led to a lively debate on BBC Sportsound this evening as they pored over the appointment of Ferguson.
There was some surprise around the fact they went for an inexperienced boss with a big Europa League tie coming up against Fenerbahce, with Tom English trying to suggest the club have accepted they won’t be winning that tie.
That was rubbished by Rory Loy, who went on to claim no experienced manager would have been persuaded to take the job ob.
Robertson begged to differ and said: “I’ll tell you who would have took that for three months: Craig Levein.
“If you went to Craig Levein and said to him ‘You’ve no skin in the game, it’s for three months. We want you to come in and sort this dressing room out, and kick a bit of backside. Get a tune out of them as best you can.’
“He’d have come in and sorted a few of them out.”
Leean Crichton was having none of it and butted in: “John, come on. You’d have been better keeping Clement.
“And I’m not being disrespectful to Craig Levein, but genuinely? Do you think that’s going to put bums on seats and put an energy into the stadium?
“You could name 1000 names that would’ve taken that job then. I didn’t know they were recruiting BBC pundits, we could all have stuck our names in.”
Robertson went on: “People can say what they want. I hope the boys do well, I know three of them really well and I hope they do well for their sake.
“But it is to appease the fans and it is to get bums on seats. That’s the main aspect of it.
“But I’m saying if you wanted someone to go in and sort them out a wee bit, do you think Craig Levein wouldn’t have taken that on?
“If they wanted somebody experienced for three months, they could have gone down that route and I’m sure Craig would probably have taken it.”
And when the former Hearts and St Johnstone boss’ European credentials were questioned, he added: “Craig Levein’s won in Braga and stuff like that, he’s won in Europe before. A long time ago, granted
“He’s also an ex-Scotland manager. He’s an ex-national manager.”
Robertson backs Barry Ferguson and Rangers coaching staff
Despite all of that, Robertson isn’t actually against the Ferguson pick.
Asked about that, he said: “No, they’ve made the sensible move. We’re all agreed on that.
“They had to calm everything down. You hear everyone saying they want their Rangers back and I get that.
“And this is a sensible, sensible move. It really is. The guys they’ve put in are all well known, they’ve all won loads of trophies at the club and they’ve all got varying levels of coaching experience.”
