Almost every Rangers manager in modern memory seems to have been cursed by injury problems with Philippe Clement no different to those that came before him.
When the Gers boss took over in the Ibrox hot seat, he inherited a treatment room that had as many bodies in it as the training ground had taking part in sessions.
Aside from those with poor medical histories most of the current Rangers squad that have been sidelined have been unlucky even if Philippe Clement is intent on fixing the long-term problem.
Romeo Lavia injury is nothing compared to Rangers Daniel Prodan
Talking about being unlucky, Romeo Lavia has had an even worse time of it than Danilo.
With just 32 minutes under his belt since signing for Chelsea from Southampton, the 20-year old won’t be seen again this season.
For a reported £58m, it is a sore one to take for Mauricio Pochettino.
Rangers maybe didn’t spent as much money as that but, in 1998, £2.2m was a lot of money, especially for a defender.
Having passed away at the age of just 44, the tale of Daniel Prodan is a sorry one.
Widely regarded as one of the most refined centre-halves in Europe, he was an integral part of the successful Romania team of the 1990’s.
With Rangers looking to replace the legend Richard Gough, Prodan, at his peak, seemed like a great bit of business.
There was one major problem though.
Prodan had been having issues with a knee injury but Atletico Madrid didn’t reveal the full extent of the damage, to compound the farce, Rangers didn’t carry out a medical.
A decision that ultimately cost them £2.2m and three years worth of wages.
Without once stepping onto the pitch wearing a Rangers strip.
Prodan was never able to get his problems resolved and barely played in his last five years as a professional.
It would be the equivalent of signing John Stones now, having him kicking around Auchenhowie, but never seeing him play or walk out at Ibrox.
Lavia has time on his hands and Chelsea need to make sure they put the player first on this occasion, with six years left on his contract, there is no need to rush.
He has maybe played more than 32 minutes, but there is a similar situation with Danilo.
He is only 24-years old and could go on to be a hero for Rangers.
A goal or an assist every 90 minutes in the league backs this up.
There will be a temptation to bring him back into the team if he returns to fitness this season but Clement should resist.
Like Lavia for Chelsea, fingers crossed, he will be the proverbial new signing next season.
