Sky Sports are reporting that Rangers are set to snap up Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe on a potential 18 month loan deal.
The legendary Premier League striker was made available by Bournemouth yesterday and Rangers were installed as the early frontrunners for his signature.
And now it seems the Ibrox club have got their man after Sky Sports made the announcement on their Twitter.

The deal would keep Defoe at Ibrox until the Summer of 2020 with two recall options. Defoe can be recalled in the Summer of this year or also the January of next.
This means that should the move not work out, or Bournemouth need him, he can return to the Vitality then. This acts as a safety net for all three parties.

Wages not as big a problem as first thought?

Talks of Defoe’s wages being a snag on the deal appear to have been premature. There has also been much conjecture over the value of Defoe’s contract over the last few days.

The Mirror reported that the striker is on £130,000 per week, whilst the Sun has suggested it is closer to £65,000 per week.
Whatever the case, the particulars of the deal appear to have been ironed out. Jermain Defoe is set to head to Ibrox to team up with ex-England international teammate Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard is of course now Rangers manager and shares the same agent as the striker. Celtic were also reported to be interested in the striker but it looks like Defoe has decided to move to Ibrox.
Jermain Defoe is the English Premier League’s seventh all-time top scorer. The striker has 162 goals in 496 Premier League games.
As well as Bournemouth, the English forward has also played for West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Toronto.
