Former Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has leapt to the defence of Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack after criticism for showing emotion after the defeat to Celtic.
The teary-eyed midfielder was visibly upset as he watched on at his rivals lifting their 10th straight domestic trophy.
It shows just how much stopping the rot matters to the midfielder but some individuals have chimed in with criticism.
Morose commentator and tiresome Rangers hating figure Tom English passed some negative comments about Jack on BBC Sportsound.
The BBC Scotland chief sportswriter said it looked bad and criticised the midfielder [BBC Sportsound 09/19/19].
But Langfield – who spent five years with Jack at Aberdeen – leapt to the defence of his former teammate.
“So young men should keep their emotions bottled up and never show them?” said Jamie Langfield.
“That’s why in society we have so many problems. Just cause Scott (Brown) doesn’t do it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong for Ryan to do it.
“I salute Jacko for it, it’s good to see how much it hurts as players are not robots.”
Jack was consoled by Steven Gerrard as Rangers suffered the agony of a Betfred Cup Final defeat despite outplaying Celtic for the majority of the match.

The team can take great heart from the performance going forward, and Jack can take plenty from his own 90 minutes.
That match on Sunday proves this league campaign is far from over.
