Bayern Munich and Colombia superstar James Rodriguez has proclaimed Alfredo Morelos as the “future of football” in Colombia.
It’s high praise indeed from a player who’s lit up World Cups and played at the highest level. The attacking midfielder is one of South America’s biggest talents and these comments will do Alfredo’s confidence the world of good.
The Rangers striker replaced James Rodriguez in the dying stages of Colombia’s 1-0 win over Japan to earn his second cap for the country.

“This was a new squad out there and there were many players in the team who didn’t have a lot of international experience,” said James, as quoted by The Daily Record.
“Players such as Alfredo Morelos, who can be the future of football in our country.

“He has a lot of talent and has all the qualities needed to be a top player for us.

Morelos “is a top striker”

“Alfredo is young, has had a great season and is a top striker. He was called up ahead of more experienced strikers so that tells you that our manager Carlos Queiroz rates him very highly.
“Of course, he still has a lot to learn, but he seems to be improving all the time and he is going to become an important player for Colombia.”
The comments of James are sure to excite Rangers fans for whom Alfredo Morelos is a hero. El Bufalo is Steven Gerrard’s main man with 29 goals this season.

That return has attracted the likes of Borussia Dortmund [originally Sky Sports] and

However, Alfredo put an end to any immediate transfer talk after he delighted fans by signing a new contract at Rangers. At least for now.
But whether he’s at Ibrox or not at the beginning of next season, Rodriguez clearly sees a bright future for the Colombian firebrand.
