Rangers commercial and marketing director James Bisgrove claims the club are looking at European giants Barcelona and AC Milan as they look to continue their commercial growth.

Specifically, the Ibrox director has been talking about the club’s plans to grow RangersTV and looking at the success stories at two of European football’s biggest clubs.

This comes with Rangers excelling in this department in recent seasons with the club boasting a lot of potential and talent in this area as they look to maximise their global audience and support.

Speaking to Off the Pitch, James Bisgrove goes into extensive detail regarding the club’s commercial operations as Rangers open the Blue Sky Lounge, look at catering options, aim to improve the matchday experience and of course, open New Edmiston House.

“Within our digital media activities, RangersTV is our leading revenue driver under the umbrella of broadcast and production,” said James Bisgrove.

“We are currently defining the future strategy for our Club TV channel and are excited by the opportunities in this space.

“We’ve developed an extremely experienced and talented team in this area and are looking closely at projects such as Barcelona Studios, and AC Milan’s Media House as interesting case studies for the future strategy of RangersTV.”

James Bisgrove talks up Rangers commercial ambitions

This will come as exciting news to Rangers supporters, who have enjoyed the standard of coverage on RangersTV – which was intensified by the Covid-19 pandemic – and are looking for new content around the club.

There’s a discontent between Rangers fans and the world of Scottish football media and any rich, valuable and quality content around the Ibrox side will be sure to be a winner.

The fact that Rangers are looking at Barcelona and AC Milan in their ambitions is a positive as James Bisgrove continues to try and improve the club’s commercial revenues.

Since 2018, Rangers have transformed their commercial revenues from £8m to a record-breaking £29m and it’s clear from the Ibrox director that the club are not done yet.

“The annual growth from £8 million commercial revenue at the end of 2018 to just under £29m in 2022, across a consistent set of revenue pillars, further represents Rangers’ return to financial health and profitability,” said James Bisgrove.

“At the board level, we recognise commercial revenue as one of the four core pillars of our club strategy and business performance; alongside player trading, match-day revenues, primarily ticketing, and European prize money.”

Meanwhile, Rangers have been linked with Bordeaux striker Josh Maja.
