Is ex-Celtic star the Rangers transfer rumour "which would start WW3"?

Rangers fans are well used to incredible transfer rumours by now, but who could the one rumour which “would start WW3 quicker than Donald Trump” be?

Respected club insider Four Lads Had a Dream was responding to a supporter who’d messaged them regarding the reported interest in Mostafa Mohamed [Daily Record].

Typically tight-lipped until he knows anything, the Rangers blogger responded by saying that “I haven’t heard a thing”.

However, it’s what else Four Lads said that will grab the imagination of Rangers supporters.

“Extremely quiet with the exception of one rumour that would start WW3 quicker than Donald Trump”, said Four Lads Had a Dream [Twitter].

“Rangers play down everything so often I’m left waiting like everyone else.

“If I get news I’ll share it but it’s very quiet for me one here.”

Now, there’s absolutely no suggestion Rangers are interested in Mohamed or anyone else in the post, but the “rumour” has dredged up one name in particular.

Given the rather explosive nature of Four Lads’ comments, there’s a suggestion that it may well be a former Celtic player.

Given former Southampton recruitment boss Ross Wilson is the new sporting director at Ibrox, some – including this fan – believe it could well be Stuart Armstrong.

Scotland international Armstrong left Celtic for the Premier League in 2018 despite being a fan favourite at Parkhead.

Any move to Ibrox would almost certainly cause Armageddon in Scotland heading into the business end of the season.

Let’s be clear about this – there is absolutely suggestion, official or otherwise, that Rangers are interested in signing the Southampton midfielder and this is just a bit of fun.

But can you imagine the tears, the upset and the all-out war it would cause if we did?

He’s not a bad player either…
