Is elusive “number 10” set to elude Rangers this transfer window?

Rangers have signed six players in this window – but they couldn’t find a number 10.
Prior to the window opening, the general consensus at Ibrox was that we lack a creative, lock-picking, dribbling, goal-scoring midfielder.
To many, we still do. Finding that perfect number 10 is proving much harder than we thought.

Not that there wasn’t plenty of talk. We were linked to Ravel Morrison after the controversial midfielder followed numerous key figures on social media. We were also linked with Adam Lallana after Rangers were installed as bookies favourites for his signature.
It had Barry Ferguson excited.
But as quoted in The Mirror, Steven Gerrard shot down both moves saying “there’s no truth in either”.
We also signed Steven Davis. Is he REALLY a number 10? The midfielder is a creative player, but by and large plays in a deeper role. That’s been evidenced by how Gerrard has used him further back on the pitch so far.
That hasn’t stopped the Gaffer giving the Northern Irishman the number 10 on the back of his shirt.

The thing is, it’s interesting Gerrard hasn’t went out and purchased that elusive creative dynamo in this window. Especially when you consider the change of formation to accommodate our new forward line.

In it, there’s space for this free-spirited, creative type. And that’s where he’s put Ryan Kent so far.
Perhaps Gerrard thinks that in the Liverpool loanee we already have that kind of player at the club?
