The effects of an Ibrox Covid-19 scandal earlier in the season is now set to really hit home as one of the club’s players tests positive for the coronavirus.
Rangers defender Filip Helander will now go into a period of self-isolation for 10 days after contracting the virus just as Rangers enter a hectic December schedule.

But Helander’s absence is made even worse by the idiocy of fellow centre-half George Edmundson, who is currently serving a suspension for breaching protocols in October.
The Ibrox defender attended a house party with Rangers winger Jordan Jones which was broken up by police and the two hounded by Gers fans as a result.
After being punished internally by the club – and going through a two-week isolation period of their own – the duo was also banned for seven games by the SFA [BBC Sport].
This means both players will not be available to play for Rangers until the match against St. Mirren in Paisley on the 30th of December.
Helander, 27, will now also be missing for the matches with Standard Liege in the Europa League and Ross County in the Scottish Premiership with the Gers having only two first-team centre-halves available.
This is also permitting that Helander doesn’t suffer from a particularly bad case of Covid-19 which keeps him out for longer or directly impacts his match fitness.
Connor Goldson is an Ibrox mainstay at the heart of the defence whilst Leon Balogun – a player with a history of injuries – has been used sparingly to ensure he can go the distance this season.
Calvin Bassey – ordinarily a left-back – did impress at centre-half in the 4-0 win over Falkirk and could be called upon to plug the gap whilst rookie Leon King is also waiting in the wings.

But whatever the case, this positive test shows just how dangerous that early season Covid-19 scandal could be to our success this season and the impact it is having on the squad.
Rangers fans rallied around Filip Helander following news of his positive test, wishing the big Swede all the best in his recovery from the virus.
