Other than in 2012, Rangers fans have rarely had to endure such a summer of discontent with Philippe Clement the man in the middle.
The manager has been front and centre all summer, having to field questions about the squad and about Ibrox – not exactly the transfer window that he would have planned.
The attendance for the league cup win over St Johnstone demonstrated the current feeling amongst the support but there has at least been some good news on their chances of returning home soon.

Rangers fans could be home soon after positive Ibrox images
Images have emerged on both Facebook and X from fans getting a glimpse inside Ibrox and with an update on a imminent arrival at G51.
With work planned for the Broomloan and Sandy Jardine stands over the next two summers, Rangers will be hoping that lessons have been learned and that the same mistakes won’t be repeated.
As the pictures show, chairman John Bennett has got his wish and will breathe a sigh of relief as the final delivery makes its way from Southampton to Glasgow so that the rest of the work can be completed.
Progress has been made, but the clock is ticking with the target of a late September return approaching fast.
Taken by Pix by Pedro, the Copland Road stand is starting to look like her old self.
Bennett can ease pressure with return to Ibrox
Speaking at the end of July, Bennett was quick to express his frustration at the delays but hoped to make it up to fans:
“Rangers people and Rangers fans, we have been through adversity, a lot of adversity in its glorious history and this is a moment of adversity that is painful, bruising, and challenging but this club has got a remarkable ability to rise to challenges and it’ll do that.
“I have talked about the challenges right there, the stand, the project, never forget for whom we are doing it and who we are doing everything for – the fans.
“We are here to win for them, we will complete that project for our people, so it is a moment of adversity we have been through adversity before this club, bigger, way bigger so we don’t get consumed by this, we stand up, we grab it we face it down and we finish the job.”
Bennett’s tenure as chairman has not been an easy one as he continues to juggle too many plates at the same time.
With a CEO in place, Bennett could have dealt with Ibrox without having to get involved with the transfer business too.
The hardest job this summer was always going to be selling players, however, with no sporting director or director of football, that job seems to have been neglected with Rangers just hoping that clubs will come in for the likes of Todd Cantwell or Ianis Hagi.
Fans aren’t happy, getting them back into their regular seats with considerably better views of their team will at least pacify them for a while.
