Rangers are reportedly on the verge of hiring a replacement for Michael Beale, but it seems that it will not be Oliver Glasner.
The Daily Record has reported that the Rangers hierarchy will decide between Phillipe Clement and Kevin Muscat as the next manager of the first team.
The decision will reportedly be made in the coming days.
One of the managers linked with the Rangers managerial role in recent days is Oliver Glasner.
On October 5, The Daily Record reported that Glasner had “thrown his hat into the ring at the 11th hour”.
The 49-year-old has now addressed speculation linking him with the Rangers managerial role.
The former VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt manager has said that he is not going to take charge of Rangers anytime soon.
Oliver Glasner on Rangers manager’s job
The Scottish Sun quotes Glasner as saying: “I have never commented on that speculation and I never will. I notice it and am amused by it.
“But it doesn’t affect my daily routine in any way. It’s nice that it all happens more or less in the background.

“I haven’t had any withdrawal symptoms from football yet. At the moment I have other things that are in the foreground. I only watch football when there’s nothing else to do which is very, very rare.
“Every day, I am very relaxed. I feel like I am on holiday each day. The time will come when I return to management, I will feel it.
“It would need to be a project that excites me again. If I can make a difference and I have a good feeling about it, then I will do it.”
My View: Oliver Glasner would not have been a good fit at Rangers
I do not think that Oliver Glasner would have been a good fit at Rangers.
The Bundesliga is a much richer domestic league than the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers do not have the funds that Eintracht Frankfurt do, and I think Glasner would not have been able to hit the ground running at Ibrox.
Of course, with time, the 49-year-old could have been a success at Rangers, but I do not think that the Gers can afford to give their new manager a lot of time.
Rangers need to really start winning titles.
Now.
There is still enough time for Rangers to catch Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
The very least the new manager needs to do is keep the title race alive until the final week of the season.
I do not think that Glasner would have been able to do that at Rangers given the (higher) quality of players he has had at Frankfurt.
