Hull City fans have lauded former Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty after his winning goal against Swindon Town on Saturday sent his side back to the top of League One.
The lifelong Rangers supporter took the difficult decision to leave Ibrox in the summer after failing to break into Steven Gerrard’s plans despite strong loan stints at both Shrewsbury Town and Hibernian.

The Tigers paid the Gers £400k and Docherty signed a three-year contract at the KCOM Stadium [Hull Live].
Plenty of Hull supporters were delighted with the deal and so far, it’s proving to be good business.
Grant McCann’s side are aiming to earn promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking and Docherty has played a key role in their season so far, starting 23 of their 25 league matches in midfield.
Goals haven’t flowed for the 24-year-old, who had netted just twice prior to the weekend, but he produced against Swindon on Saturday afternoon.
Just five minutes into the game, Docherty was picked out by George Honeyman’s pull-back and despite a relatively heavy first touch, he was able to fire an emphatic finish beyond the goalkeeper from six yards.

The goal was enough to earn the three points for Hull, who moved back to the top of the League One table on goal difference ahead of Lincoln City, who have a game in hand.
Docherty took to Twitter after the game to celebrate the win and he received glowing praise from Hull supporters.
