Robby McCrorie couldn’t have done much more to persuade Michael Beale that he could be trusted as Rangers number one.
Replacing Allan McGregor was never going to be easy and the Auchenhowie academy graduate seemed like the natural successor.
With Jack Butland signed though, Robby McCrorie looks to have made up his mind and that leaving Rangers this summer is the right thing to do, with Heart & Hand’s David Edgar supporting his decision on Twitter.

The time to give McCrorie his chance was after he kept two clean sheets against Alashkert and Celtic in 2021.
McGregor and Jon McLaughlin had both played in the early stages of the season before being struck by Covid-19 protocols with McCrorie stepping up to the plate.
Two assured and mature performances later and it looked as though the Scotland youth cap had done enough given the age of his respective colleagues.
That he had to wait until the end of last season to play again is more than justification for Robby McCrorie to want to leave Rangers, never mind the signing of Jack Butland.

Robby McCrorie right to look for Rangers move
Edgar is right, at 25-years old and with a lot of games under his belt out on loan, he has nothing to prove and won’t be short of offers as he seeks first-team football.
In six games against decent opposition, McCrorie has conceded just once, and that was a header from a corner he could do nothing about.
He was fuming at losing an injury time goal despite being 3-0 up at the time.
Robby McCrorie knew that Rangers were going into the market for another keeper and Michael Beale was desperate for him to stay.
The Rangers squad is too big though and there is no point keeping a player who won’t be guaranteed to play, especially when they could bring in decent money.
