After Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was sent off against Celtic yesterday, it didn’t just play a major role in us losing the match. It might’ve also dented the Colombian’s hopes of picking up a major award this season.
Only a month or so ago, Alfredo Morelos looked a shoo-in for the Player of the Season. Now, with the striker banned for four of Rangers last seven games, he might’ve just thrown it away.
It’s further punishment for a player who suffered the ignominy of being sent off on rival territory.

When you consider the fact Morelos has been battling suspension literally from the first game of the domestic campaign, it’s actually quite impressive he’s managed to keep his form up.
His 29 goals have come between five red cards, albeit one was rescinded. No one wants him to remove the physical, combative side of his game. Indeed, the problem generally doesn’t even lie with that.
Morelos’ issues begin and end with his temper. You have to feel for him because he is targeted, but he must stop reacting. Because as well as cost his side points, it could also see him miss out on a major personal award.
These issues are something which Alfredo Morelos promised to work on as he apologised to fans.
