Rangers chairman Dave King officially stepped down from his role at Ibrox this week as the South African-based businessman retreats from the Glasgow spotlight.

King’s takeover alongside the famous 3 Bears group back in 2015 initiated a change at Ibrox which revolutionised Rangers and saved the club from being decimated by vulture-like investors.

A man with the club’s greatest interests at heart always, King passes the mantle onto another staunch bluenose in Douglas Park, at least for the time being.

King made the announcement that he was going to leave Ibrox way back in November and followed through on the promise by leaving March.

Back then King revealed that he’d still be involved as a shareholder and remained committed to working closely with Rangers to expunge the demons of Sports Direct and Mike Ashley.

For many the gravity of what King and his fellow investors achieved at Rangers during a time of boardroom struggles and potential asset stripping cannot be understated.

For others, Dave King is a living Ibrox legend whose leadership and determination rescued the club from the hands of grubby investors and steered the ship back on course.

As fans welcome new interim chairman Douglas Park into the role, they have not forgotten the job done by King over the last four or so years.

Many supporters took to Twitter to thank Dave King as he steps back from his Rangers reign:
