Glenn Middleton has been spotted in Rangers first-team training prior to the Premiership clash against Livingston [].

The Gers take on Livi at Ibrox on Sunday and have minimal preparation time following their successful Europa League outing in Liege on Thursday night.

The quick turnaround may have been the main factor behind several youth and fringe players stepping in to bulk up the numbers at first-team training on Friday.

One of those spotted taking part was Glenn Middleton.

The 20-year-old winger travelled to France for the pre-season tour but hasn’t made a matchday squad since.

Middleton has been restricted to B team outings and has been conspicuously absent from the vast majority of first-team training galleries.

However, he could be seen in both the training video and the image gallery released by the club following Friday’s session.

The speedster is in good form after recently notching a hat-trick of assists on international duty with Scotland U21s and perhaps he’s slowly creeping back into Steven Gerrard’s plans.

Middleton made 28 appearances during the 2018/19 campaign but hasn’t been seen since, with disappointing loan spells at Hibernian and Bradford City appearing to set him back.

Therefore, it would still be a surprise if he was named on the bench for the weekend’s game, especially given that centre-back, Nikola Katic, is the only player confirmed as unavailable through injury.

Teenage talents Leon King and Ciaran Dickson can also be spotted in the footage from the training ground, while Jordan Jones and Jermain Defoe rejoined the group.

Both Filip Helander and Steven Davis also trained after being rested in Belgium.
