Former Rangers striker Shota Arveladze is celebrating his second Uzbekistani title on the bounce as the Georgian manager makes it four trophies out of four with Pakhtakor Tashkent FK.

Arveladze, 47, lifted the trophy with a match to spare as his Pakhtakor side beat Lokomotiv 1-0 to lift the Uzbekistan Super League for the second year in a row.

This follows an incredible domestic treble from last season – with Shota’s charges still in the running for the Uzbekistan Cup this season too.

The legendary Georgian forward plied his trade with Rangers and Ajax as a player and as a manager is making an impression in the east.

The forward started his career with Dinamo Tblisi in his homeland before earning a move to Western Europe via Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Also turning out with AZ Alkmaar in Holland and Levante in Spain, Shota is Georgia’s greatest ever goal scorer with his 26 strikes in 61 games.

The striker was a success at Ibrox too, Arveladze winning two SPL titles, two Scottish Cup and a Scottish League Cup at Rangers during a four-year spell with the club between 2001 and 2005.

Shota retains a special place in the heart of Rangers fans and they sent congratulations aplenty to the former Gers striker on Twitter following his latest cup success.

It’s not the first time in recent weeks Shota’s been in the Scottish press either.

Rangers fans sent their best wishes earlier in the year when the ex-striker contracted Covid-19 whilst an emerging Scotland anthem sounded awfully familiar to the Ibrox support.
