Rangers have made no secret of the fact that player trading must form part of the club’s business operations and for many this summer could see a major player exit Ibrox.
This week, the former mentor of Rangers full-back Borna Barisic was out in the press talking up the Croatian international’s abilities and claiming he’s ready for the Premier League.
Alan Petkovic has known the full-back since his Osijek days and even believes some of Europe’s top clubs will be aware of the talented left-back [Scottish Sun].
At 28 the left-back is approaching the period where the club might be best placed to cash in and if Borna has a successful European Championship it may well entice bidders.
Rangers hold the aces when it comes to the first-choice Croatia full-back – Barisic being contracted to Ibrox until 2024 – but could the Gers look to a free-agent Premier League bluenose as a safety net?
Barry Douglas has made no bones about his attachment to Ibrox and the 31-year-old looks set to leave Leeds with his contract expiring in the summer.
The talented left-back has had an up and down season on loan with Blackburn Rovers, making 32 appearances across the season.
The player announced he would be leaving the Ewood Park club after the Championship season ended with Leeds Live claiming he will leave Elland Road come the end of the season.
another season completed ✅ thoroughly enjoyed my time at @rovers lots of highs and lows but a memorable experience none the less with a great bunch of lads, good luck to everyone associated with the club and all the best for the future 🌹💙 pic.twitter.com/exxK6Qk4fD

Douglas might not be operating in the same ball-park as Borna at the moment but by signing the player it beefs up a traditionally problem position at Ibrox.
The Gers are down to the bare bones at left-back due to injuries and suspensions with Joe Aribo being forced to deputise in the position against Celtic.
It’s true that Calvin Bassey remains a very highly thought of prospect but we could certainly do worse than introducing a safety net with this highly experienced full-back.
Here’s more on what Alan Petkovic had to say about Borna as he tipped the Gers to make a massive profit on the defender.
