Back in July, Rangers were linked with Milad Mohammadi.
The left-back is an Iran international, who helped his side to two consecutive clean sheets against Oman and Iraq in the Asian Cup in mid-week.
In the latter fixture, he pitted himself against reported Rangers target, Mohanad Ali.

Mohammadi plays his club football in the Russian Premier League for Akhmat Grozny.
However, with his current contract expiring in June, it appears that he could be on his way out of the club.
The Daily Mail report that Newcastle have been offered his services, as Rafa Benitez searches for defensive cover.

Left-back was clearly a problem area identified by Steven Gerrard over the summer.
That’s why he brought in Borna Barisic, for over £2 million, in August.
Issues have continued, though,
due to the Croatian’s persistent injury problems.

There’s no doubt Mohammadi is a promising player. With 26 international caps, he is relatively experienced for a 25-year-old.

That he is valued at £3.15 million and is being touted for a Premier League move, is an indication of his ability.
However, Rangers invested heavily in Barisic.
When fit, he looks an excellent player.
Additionally, with Andy Halliday showing his ability to deputise at left-back, there’s simply no need for another addition in that area just now.
