Ever since the Old Firm win, everything that has come out of Ibrox seems to be good news.
A successful mid-season camp in Tenerife, some big January signings, an increase in funding for the Rangers Academy and a friendly win over HJK Helsinki.
However, Steven Gerrard seemed frustrated on two separate occasions when referring to a key player.
Borna Barisic.
The injury-plagued left-back went down with what seemed like another issue, on Sunday.
When asked about his condition after the match,
Gerrard tersely replied: “I don’t know. You’ll have to ask Borna.”
“He had me worried because he tapped the floor about 55 times…but he looks like he’s moving ok now.”
Fast forward to yesterday’s press conference. The manager was yet again reluctant to give any time to questions about his summer signing’s fitness.

“He’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with him”,
he replied, when asked by a journalist if the defender was facing another spell on the sidelines.
It seems Barisic’s antics struck a nerve with Gerrard.
This may not be anything major, but the ex-Liverpool captain has regularly defended his players this season, so it’s distinctly unlike him to be so dismissive of an injury scare.
Perhaps, given the money the club paid for Borna’s services in the summer, they feel they should be getting more out of him.
Certainly, the coaching staff don’t seem to be standing for unnecessary dramatics.
With this in mind, it’ll be interesting to see who gets the nod at left-back this evening.
