Former World Champion boxer Carl Frampton was spotted doing an interview in a Rangers jersey as he gave a reaction to the fight between Josh Warrington and Mauricio Lara.

Warrington was subject to a shock 9th round knockout to Mexican boxer Mauricio Lara in what was the first defeat of the English featherweight’s 31 fight career.

Claiming he never saw the defeat coming, Northern Irishman Frampton would take to YouTube to give his reaction to the fight at the Wembley Arena, which took place on Saturday the 13th.

The bluenose boxer would also pay tribute to Mauricio Lara, 22, for his performance in the fight in which he beat a competitor eight years his senior.

Frampton, 33, at one point refused to get drawn on the Rangers Celtic thing until recently – such is his mixed heritage in Ireland – but the boxer since abandoned this in public.

The boxer has “huge cross-community” support in Northern Ireland but a tweet in 2016 congratulating Rangers on their return to the top tier spark complaints from nationalists.

Frampton simply congratulated Rangers on their promotion and it sparked inappropriate responses. Read more on that via Belfast Telegraph.

The Jackal has regularly visited Ibrox whilst he also showed up at the club’s training centre where he even caught Steven Gerrard’s eye during the visit.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans were boosted by the comments of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp amid a bad run of form as fears naturally grow around Gerrard’s future.
