Former Rangers winger Vladimir Weiss is still available as a free agent following his December release by Al-Gharafa.
The termination of his contract after a three-year stay with the Qatar Stars League club sparked suggestions from fans on social media that the Gers should bring him back to Ibrox.
Some Bears thought he’d be a good option to bring in on a short term deal. After all, he experienced success during the one season he spent on loan in Glasgow, playing regularly and winning both the League title and the League Cup.
However, other supporters cautioned against a move, with sentiments that we echoed.
Weiss last played European club football in 2014 at the back end of a stint with Olympiacos, while he retired from the international game in 2018.

His time spent playing in Qatar means he’s something of an unknown quantity these days and with some fitness problems in the past, including a serious knee injury during the 2017/18 season [Transfermarkt], he no longer carries the same desirability.
That’s been evidenced by the fact that no one signed him up last month, with Weiss still currently clubless.
As a free agent, he’s not bound by the transfer window, though, with clubs still able to snap him up.
The ex-Slovakian international’s season is therefore not necessarily over and he could be on the radar of smaller clubs who feel they didn’t quite do enough business in January.
Rangers have endured a stuttering start to 2020, lacking creativity and goals, but despite all that, Weiss still isn’t the answer.
