Former Rangers striker stirs up controversy following overseas defeat

Former Rangers striker Jason Cummings hasn’t taken long to stir up controversy following his move from Dundee to Australian side Central Coast Mariners as his new side slumped to a last-minute defeat to Melbourne Victory.

Cummings, who has started life off well down under, scoring two goals in four matches, lamented the commercial breaks and VAR delays in his new side’s defeat to Melbourne Victory.

“It was quite a stale game. I’ve never been at a game where it gets stopped that long,” said Cummings after the match [ABCNews].

“Like, genuinely. The VAR takes about 10 minutes to stop with that. He’s [the referee] stopping the game for a commercial break.

“Like, I need to warm up every 10 minutes. It’s stop-start.”

It didn’t take long for the Scottish striker to stir up something, although this time it seems like it is justified.

His actions in Scotland were the reason he gained a move to Australia, following his poor decision pre-Christmas to attend the Open Goal live show in Glasgow, despite his manager’s objections.

A spell out of the side looked like that only meant one thing and hopefully, this can reinvigorate his career, as the boy has talent there is no doubt about that, but he needs to start applying it.

The 26-year-old featured for Rangers during a 6-month loan spell at the end of the 2017/2018 season and performed well. there were clamours for the club to sign him, but Steven Gerrard obviously had his own targets in mind.

It was an admirable move, but maybe a break from the Scottish media will be a good thing and he can progress and allow his football to do most of the talking, whilst also stirring up some controversy of course.

Meanwhile, a once Rangers-linked England international signs for a Danish Superliga side following a spell without a club.
