Former Rangers starlet Zak Rudden joins Dundee on a pre-contract

Former Rangers striker Zak Rudden has joined Dundee on a pre-contract deal from Partick Thistle [Scotsman], although they will have to make a “satisfactory” offer in order to acquire his services in the January window as Partick are fighting for promotion.

The Courier reported last month that St Johnstone was in the hunt for the 21-year-old to bolster their attacking options, but Dundee has won the chase for the striker.

Rudden has scored nine times for the Jags so far this campaign as they have settled into Championship life well, having spent last season in League One.

Zak Rudden can fulfill his potential at Dundee

The striker came through the academy at Auchenhowie and had loan spells at Falkirk and Plymouth before eventually signing for Partick on a permanent deal last year.

He was highly rated at the Ibrox side but couldn’t force his way into the first team. the club held a buy-back clause for Rudden once he signed for the Jags, they opted not to take this up despite him starring in the Championship.

Moving to Dundee shows that he is on the right track to further progress his career and shine at a higher level, one that he is more than capable of performing well in.

With Dundee striker Jason Cummings set to join A League side Central Coast Mariners, the Premiership side is pushing to sign the player during the January window so they can fill the void left by Cummings.

If Rudden does join this month, then he will be expected to get up to speed quickly as Dundee is involved in a relegation battle.

In other news, Rangers have given Borussia Dortmund a healthy away ticket allocation for the upcoming Europa League playoff tie at Ibrox in February.
