Rangers hand Borussia Dortmund healthy away ticket boost as allocation confirmed

Rangers have confirmed that Borussia Dortmund will receive 2,700 tickets for the Europa League playoff tie at Ibrox on February 24.

This is great news as the travelling away contingent will make sure there is an incredible atmosphere within the stadium, especially now that Scotland has lifted the 500-capacity rule that was recently in place, a packed Ibrox will give the squad a further boost.

Although it is looking increasingly likely that there won’t be any Rangers supporters travelling to Dortmund for the first leg, as there are still restrictions in place.

There were hopes that an easing of crowd restrictions would be discussed ahead of the European tie, yet it appears that there could only be a maximum of 750 supporters attending the game at the 80,000 capacity Westfalenstadion.

This could give the Ibrox side a massive boost as the atmosphere in the stadium on matchdays is intimidating to say the least. The “yellow wall” gives the German heavyweights an advantage and without the fans, Rangers might have a chance of pulling off a result.

Rangers vs Borussia Dortmund is a mouth-watering tie

The draw could have been kinder to the Gers but getting the opportunity to take on an elite side like Dortmund can give everyone an indication of just how far the club has come.

With the two teams having a few matches to think about before the first leg on February 17, momentum could build for either side.

Dortmund has won both of their league matches since coming back from the winter break, although they were knocked out of the German Cup in midweek to second division St Pauli. With Bayern Munich looking to win the Bundesliga for the tenth year in a row, the Europa League could be the only realistic chance they have of winning a trophy this season.

Regardless of form, when the two sides clash at Ibrox, there will be sure to be an incredible atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the next 10 days could have a big impact on Rangers pursuit of £40m boost.
