The former Chelsea manager has been out of work since January this year after being replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Although his time at Chelsea was brief, he did receive plaudits for utilising the youth talents at the club.

Players such as Mason Mount and Reece James have become vital figures for both club and country and this is all down to Lampard.

This could be music to a young Billy Gilmour’s ears. The Scotland star hasn’t played as often as his prodigious talent warrants and there was talk of Tuchel recalling him in January.

This could all change under Lampard. Gilmour made his Chelsea debut under the Englishman in August 2019 and went on to feature on a regular basis in the Premier League that season.

There is no doubt Lampard could get the best out of the Scotland starlet at Norwich. He is arguably one of the finest talents this country has produced in the previous 20 years.

Gilmour began his career at Rangers before leaving to join Chelsea in 2017 aged just 16.

There have been constant whispers of Gilmour being linked back to Rangers. The Ibrox side is always going to be regularly linked with the youngster due to his previous affiliations with the club.

If Lampard does secure the Norwich job, expect Gilmour to shine.

Meanwhile, could an ex-Rangers star be the perfect fit for the club?
