Former Rangers midfielder and now Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has been charged with actual bodily harm after a post-match incident at Barnsley last season.
On the 13th of April, after the Tykes had just beaten Fleetwood 4-2 in England’s League One, police say that a man was left with facial injuries.
Barton, 36, has previously denied claims that he confronted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel in the tunnel at Oakwell.
The former Newcastle, Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers midfielder has been bailed until the 9th of October.
It’s the latest in a long line of controversies which plagued Joey Barton’s playing career and now appears to be seeping into his time as manager.
The midfielder was notorious during his playing days, and controversy was never far away from him.
Barton has been embroiled in assaults, on-pitch melees and most recently being banned from playing for betting offences.
True to form, his time at Rangers was marred by controversy. Barton was released from his contract after an infamous bust-up with Mark Warburton and Andy Halliday back in 2016.

Halliday has survived at the club, whilst Barton continues to get embroiled in off-field nonsense.
The former midfielder was even banned for misconduct back in January.
Whilst this is no suggestion of guilt, the England cap must be thinking what the rest of us are.
Why always him?
