Former Rangers midfielder John Fleck netted in a thrilling game between Sheffield United and Man United on Sunday afternoon.
The 28-year-old midfielder came through the youth system at Ibrox and played just over 50 times for the first team all competitions [Soccerbase], before leaving in 2012 amid the club’s financial troubles.

Since then, he’s plied his trade in England, firstly with Coventry City and since 2016, with Sheffield United.
He’s helped the Blades on a remarkable rise from League One up to the Premier League and scored his first goal in the top flight in a win over Burnley prior to the international break.
However, he took things up a notch on Sunday afternoon by netting against one of the world’s biggest clubs in Manchester United.
Following up a John Lundstram shot on goal, Fleck stuck out a leg and diverted home from close range to send Bramall Lane wild.

When Lys Mousset doubled the advantage shortly after the break, it looked as though a historic win was on the cards.
However, the Red Devils went from diabolical to sublime and scored three times in seven minutes to take the lead with ten minutes left.
That wasn’t the end of the action, though.
Self-confessed Bluenose, Oli McBurnie, came off the bench to net a 90th-minute equaliser for the hosts. There was a lengthy VAR stoppage as officials checked for a handball, but the goal was eventually allowed to stand, with the benefit of the doubt going to the Scotland international.

A remarkable contest then, and a measure of just how far Fleck has come that he’s gone from the English third tier to more than holding his own in the Premier League.
