‘Scottish football, you couldn’t make it up’ – that’s what everyone is thinking, and it’s a phase former Rangers captain, Lee McCulloch, has included in his latest Evening Times column.
It’s in reaction to a remarkable turn of events at Celtic Park.

Brendan Rodgers has upped sticks in the middle of a league and Scottish Cup campaign, in favour of a move to the Premier League.
Celtic’s loss, though, appears to be Leicester City and Rangers’ gain.
However, the Gers’ fiercest rivals haven’t wasted any time appointing a replacement.
It’s former boss, Neil Lennon, who recently parted company with Hibernian.

‘What a story it would be if Neil Lennon does take interim charge of Celtic and his first game in the dugout is back at Easter Road”, wrote McCulloch in his
‘Scottish football, you couldn’t make it up.’
Furthermore, the former Gers skipper claimed he understood some of the reasoning behind Rodgers’ decision. However, he is still convinced it will prove advantageous for his former side.

‘Either way, his loss is a big one for Scottish football, a huge one for Celtic and a massive lift for Rangers’, he concluded.
It’s a surprising set of circumstances, of that there’s no doubt.
Yet, Gerrard’s men need to run with it. Just when it looked as though their title challenge was gone, they’ve been offered a glimmer of hope.
If Celtic slip up now, it’s crucial that they pounce.
