Former Rangers boss sacked after seven game winless run as fans gun for hapless board

Pedro Caixinha has led a nomadic life since his Rangers sacking cut short his brief stay in Glasgow.

The Portuguese boss has since in Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and Brazil which have seen him manage Cruz Azul, Al-Shabab, Santos Laguna, Talleres and Red Bull Bragantino.

Unsurprisingly for Gers fans he has been unable to build sustained success anywhere despite a couple of cup wins in his first post-Ibrox role at Cruz Azul.

And the 53-year-old is unemployed yet again after his latest job ended in failure.

Ex Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha sacked by Red Bull Bragantino

Caixinha’s most recent role was with Brazilian side Bragantino, part of the Red Bull group, where Jurgen Klopp recently became his boss.

But he has now been sacked after a seven-game winless run that leaves them just above the drop zone.

A club statement reads: “Pedro Caixinha is no longer the team coach.  The Portuguese steps down after 50 wins, 38 draws and 36 defeats in charge.

“The club reached two Paulista league semi-finals in 2023 and 2024, and achieved its best-ever points total in the Brazilian league last year.

“As well as Pedro Caixinha, his assistants Pedro Malta and Jose Belman and fitness coach Polyvios Kyritsis will also leave the club.

“We thank them all for their dedication and professionalism during the near two years they were here, and wish them success with their future careers.”

Caixinha was appointed last year and had a reasonable start, finishing third in the state league and sixth in the overall league, winning two manager of the month awards and reaching two semi-finals.

He signed a two-year extension to his deal in December 2023 but patience has now run out and the Rangers flop has been fired yet again.

Fans appeared to giving Caixinha their backing after the decision.

One said: “Caixinha is a good coach. It’s not his fault that Bragantino got rid of its best players and didn’t replace them.”

Another added: “Bragantino was not more incisive in the fight for the title due to the lack of ambition of the company that owns their SAF, and also due to the inexperience of most of their players, since they hire almost only young players, even Caixinha himself complained about this.”

Caixinha recently started Bragantino riot

Caixinha recently appeared to be feeling the heat as the former Rangers boss started a riot following a 0-0 draw with Palmeiras.

After a disagreement between the two dugouts, opposing manager Abel Ferreira headed straight down the tunnel and that angered Caixinha who confronted another member of staff.

He eventually calmed down but in that time things had spilled onto the pitch with players from both sides getting involved with each other.

Afterwards, he said: “I am also very competitive. I am not afraid of nonsense or trivialities. I can handle it all.”
